Doctor's Visit...

Last week we took Ruger to visit the Vet for the first time. He was loved by all!! Ruger is quite the social puppy... when he saw anyone new he ran right to them wiggling his behind to and fro...so cute!! I loved how the doctor and her assistant just sat on the floor with him and played with him for a couple of minutes before his exam... What a good boy...
The main reason for the visit was to check Ruger's left ear...he had been scratching it and obviously something was not right. My instinct was right...an ear infection! :( Poor guy! He more than likely got it from swimming...swimmers ear!

Thankfully, we got an ear wash with a drying agent that we can give him after each swim so this doesn't happen again. With the wash and local medicine...now he is a very happy puppy with no ear ache or scratching! yay! :)
And by the way...he is one pound shy of the big 5-0! He is growing, oh so fast! :/

5th Annual Visit...

Every summer, Derek and I are honored to have Ethan (8) and Kaylynn (6), our nephew and niece, for one whole week! Since the kids have been old enough to participate in Vacation Bible School, we have always planned for their visit to be during that week. This year's theme was Egypt: Joseph, from Prison to Palace!
Here is our first day in Egypt...the kids turned Ethan into a mummy...
Kaylynn hard at work...
During 'marketplace' time the kids could visit the salon and get Egyptian eye make-up...Kaylynn, of course, could not wait...

Such a pretty, pretty girl...

Each morning the kids brought in pennies to raise money for African orphan children...the money bought warm blankets - this ministry was founded by World Vision. There was a competition between boys and girls and the girls brought in more pennies every day! I think the grand total collected was $400! Derek was asked to make the scale and I think he did an outstanding job...bias, I know!

Here is Joseph in the palace telling the children his story...Genesis 37-47

Final celebration time with Joseph singing and dancing with the kids...they loved it!

A highlight of the week was getting Ethan's haircut! Here is a before picture of Ethan with his mop-head...
The boys said that it looked like I was taking mug shots...

And after...his faux-hawk! When Ethan saw himself he said, "Wow, I look like I'm at least 10-years-old!" Such a funny guy...

Everyone loved his new look... :)

It was a whirlwind of a week but, as always, loads of fun!! Until next summer...
