So remember my previous post of Dalton recovering from surgery (1/24/11) and getting a staph infection? Well, scratch that. On the Sunday evening after his surgery (1/30/11) his rash spread like wildfire! It had spread to his chest and entire right arm down to his wrist. These pictures do not capture the intense REDNESS of the rash...it was alarming to say the least. This area was VERY hot and itchy...see picture below and notice Dalton's "thumbs down". :(

And VERY swollen...

So off to the emergency room we went. We started at Henry Mayo in Valencia were they did a complete workup and began treating him for MRSA...eeks! They gave him medication for the discomfort and itching, as well as started him on IV antibiotics. Finally, the boy sleeps...

At 3:00 am they decide to transfer us to Northridge Hospital...for insurance reasons, whatever! We arrive at Northridge at 4:00 am, get admitted, get settled in the room and the craziness began. Honestly, we felt like an episode of "House". Dalton had a team of doctors evaluating him, from two head honcho ICU Pediatricians and their team of two doctors, the infectious disease doctor and a dermatologist. After a multitude of tests, it was determined that Dalton did NOT have an infection but a severe allergic reaction to something...which is yet to be determined. So after 5 days in the hospital and his condition going from better to worse many times, he is now home with appropriate medicine and looking and feeling great!
I AM PRAISING THE LORD WITH MY WHOLE HEART!
We have appointments with the Orthopedic Surgeon on Monday (2/7/11) where I have requested an entire print out of what was done and given to Dalton pre-surgery and then off to the Pediatrician for a referral to an Allergist for patch testing. Hopefully with all the information from pre to post surgery we can start to put the pieces together.
I know many of you prayed for us and had your churches praying for us...let me just tell you that they were all felt and appreciated so very much! I cannot express with words how thankful I am for each and every one of you.
God remains faithful!!
