Let's Catch Up...

It seems like forever since my last post....oh wait, it has been forever!!  :)  Here are a few notable things that have taken place in our lives here at the ranch:

My boys and man hard at work on the unending deck project...
It's worth repeating...I am sooo very thankful for them!!
Well, lookie here...I chalkboard painted my wheelbarrow!  There is always time for a little project in the midst of a large one, right?
Dalton:  "Hey, Mom...did you know that you misspelled flowers?"
;)
Thumbs up for progress!!
Here it is in all it's glory...the 90% finished deck.  We still have to sand it, seal it and skirt it...soon!
LOVE IT.LOVE IT.LOVE IT!!
It's official...we now have two college aged children...eeks!  Here is Dalton on his very first day of College...this picture was as good as it was going to get.  The older they get, the harder it is to capture those milestones...boohoo!
"See ya, Mom."
School has been in session for two weeks now and going great.  Dalton loves his classes (thank you Jesus!) and is enjoying being a college student.  Last week Dillon started his Algebra class as well.  With the boys out of the house by 7 and Derek off to work by 7:30, I found myself at home alone.  It was nice!  :)  It's been a long time...since Dillon was in 7th grade and we started homeschooling!  I am taking advantage of this time since come Fall, it will be a very different story!
In order to "bulk up" Ruger to be a better show contender, we are supplementing his diet with  raw meat!  It's a new concept for us but after 10 days we are already seeing him fill out.  Side note:  At his last show, Jeannie (our breeder) said that he was too thin, that you should not be able to feel his backbone.  It was obvious that Ruger had lost weight and I know why.  We live on 2.5 acres and he LOVES to run around with the other dogs and since we have been working so much outside, his exercise had increased dramatically!  Derek and I (and Jeannie) came up with a plan to help him gain bulk while still maintaining his exercise level.  I am happy that it is working.  We will see how he compares with the others in the next show in July at Ventura!
Ruger waiting for his command...EAT!
Ruger's 1st raw meal...he loved every bite!!
Meet Elizabeth.
She is my very special college friend.  We became partners in our "teaching PE" class and became instant friends.  We share the same birthday month, only a week apart, however, the years are 20 apart!  :)  We share the love for teaching and have enjoyed this journey together.

Last weekend she married her high school buddy, Daniel.  It was a lovely wedding held in Simi Valley at the most beautiful venue.  I was honored to be there to share in her special day, one that she had waited a long time for!
Daniel and Elizabeth...
The teacher friends...Debi, Elizabeth, Jessica, and Me.  We had a great time!  Isn't Elizabeth's dress beautiful?  It really was one of the prettiest dresses I have ever seen!!

Well, that's it for now.
Upcoming...
Dalton's Graduation Open House
and
annual Birthday Party for Dillon and my Mom!

Let the good times roll!!  :)

Can of worms...

Do you remember where I left off in our house renovation?  Let me remind you...
As the demo began it was quickly discovered...
Wood rot!.........(can you feel my vibe of anger and disappointment?)

The solution?...
Call contractor friend for counsel and set-up time for his guys to come repair!  The first step was to remove all FOUR sliders...eeks, makes my stomach turn!
Next step, get rid of all the rot...
Today is Day 2 of 3 in repairing the deck...yep, lots of noise going on here!
Stay tuned for the finished product...we'll be surprised together!  :)

Blue Ribbon...

Pomona Fairplex Dog Show
Ruger won 1st place in his class (12-18 months)....oh happy day!  :)
Adds another blue ribbon to his showing career...hehe!

"Thank you, thank you very much!"

One of my favorite things...

When Derek and I were first married and the boys were young, we attended Hume Lake Police Couples Conference every year.  Since both of our birthdays are in February and the Conference was always in March, it was a yearly birthday gift to us from my parents.  It was great...we had the weekend away and the boys enjoyed the weekend with my parents!  Those were some wonderful years, I think it was a 6 year tradition!  Then as the boys got older and more involved with school and sports, our weekends away diminished...boo!  Oh well, such is life!  :)  Anyway, back to my story and the real meaning of this post...

Hume Lake has a great bookstore/gift shop and during one visit we purchased two picture mattes to document the boys' years in school.  Every year I loved putting in the new school pictures and seeing their maturity.  Well, yesterday, it finally hit me.  One of my favorite things had come to an end.  Yesterday, I placed Dalton's senior picture in his frame to complete it.  I must admit...I got a little choked up.  I think it is harder with Dalton since he is the "baby" of the family.  He's it.

But then I change gears and stop looking back and look forward because there is SO MUCH to look forward to!  Dalton starts college (summer school) next Monday, folks!!

Enjoy one of my favorite things...

"I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well."
Psalm 139:14

A 15 year journey...

The time had come...our family's Awana journey came to an end.
Last month, Dalton finished his 15 years in Awana.  He started in Cubbies when he was 3-years-old and barely potty trained and finished at 18-years-old, completing 15 books and memorizing TONS of bible verses.
The picture of Dalton as a Cubbie has been on our fridge for 15 years!  It's one of my favorites...
Dalton had an opportunity to thank those who have helped him in his years in Awana and gave a special thank you to his brother for being a good "voice of reason" for him in many things....makes a momma's heart swell up...
There were 5 Citation Awards earned this year which is a record for our little church!
Dalton, Josh Mawhorter, Josh Moore, Alex (who could not attend due to a school final) and Kami.
Way to go guys and gal!

Celebrating with some friends, Daniel and Bitsy...

Our Pastor and his family which include one daughter-in-law and two granddaughters...

Our boys ~
We are very proud of both of them...

See?....Proud!!
