VBS 2011...

VBS is always a highlight of our summer!  Our small church puts on an incredible program each and every year, however, this year was by far my favorite!  The setting was back in the 1900's, Gold Rush time, and the focus was searching for TRUE GOLD, Jesus Christ.  :)  I loved the curriculum, the drama, the settings/decorations and our costumes!  Fun, fun, fun!  An additional bonus each year is having my niece and nephew stay for the entire week here at the ranch.  Ethan and Kaylynn had a great time, even though Ethan said he thought the songs were kind of "kiddie"...oi, he's growing up!  :)  He's not the only one...since I typically teach the younger grades, this will be the last year I have Kaylynn in my class...boo hoo!

Here's my classroom for the K-1 "miners"...

Derek made my faux river look sooo good...

And my "camp fire" too...thanks babe!
our bible memory verses for the week...
please tell me kaylynn is on her tip toes, no!...
I was fortunate enough to have Ron as my "cowboy" in  my class...
He assisted with crowd control and taught the daily memory verses to the kids!
Group singing...
Meet Jake "the snake" Jackson...he's the meanest rottenest robber in all the west!  :)
Derek had a great time participating in the drama on days 4 and 5...
Our pastor had a dual role in playing brothers, Caleb a Christian, and Dr. Marvel a crook...
Leah (Sadie) was the Cafe owner who once saved, took the opportunity to share the gospel with everyone in "Discovery City"...
Derek (I mean Jake the Snake) rolls into town and meets up with the not-so-bright Sheriff (Anthony) and dim-wit Deputy (Ray)....
Jake tying them two up so he can rob the bank...
Hilarious...this was the end of day 4.
Day 5...our last day of VBS!
Jake is holding a Bible (which Sadie had put in the money bag at the bank) and starts to share about how he received TRUE GOLD...
Jake turns himself in, returns the money and declares his belief in Jesus Christ...
Singing with the kids...
The AMAZING actors...our church has some pretty awesome talent!  An absolute wonderful job was done by all...
Jake the Snake and a Discovery City teacher...
Our entire group of volunteers...
This is a group shot of everyone who rented costumes from Daisy (who owns the BEST costume shop in Lancaster)....
Awww....until next year!

Happy Monday, y'all!  :)
